Valle Escondido Residential Resort Community began construction in 2001 and was the first residential project of its kind in Panama. It is widely acclaimed as one of the finest residential communities in Central America and has been featured in a number of international publications and TV programs including Forbes and HGTV
House Hunters. One of the many advantages of living in a resort community is the number and quality of the amenities available to homeowners and resort guests alike. Although residential communities can have great amenities such as golf, tennis, pools, fitness, club house etc., the monthly fees needed to provide and maintain them would be prohibitive without a resort operation to absorb much of the costs. Be sure to look over the links to our Country Club and Spa to see the details of the many amenities that help create a wonderful Valle Escondido lifestyle.
Even though our community is located just 10-minutes walk from the center of the small tourist town of Boquete, we are hidden from view as its name Valle Escondido or “Hidden Valley” implies. Our proximity to the large town of David just 40 kilometers away provides residents with access to international air transportation, shopping malls, entertainment, hospitals, car dealerships, a marina and much more.
The main attraction of the highland area is the mild temperate climate and natural beauty of the forested mountains. Boquete is well known in Central America as both a tourist town and an expat community. There are restaurants, shops, tour operators, a Community Theater, bilingual schools, a medical center and other amenities catering to both tourists and residents alike.
Boquete has a population of approximately 8000 and there are about 500 expat families living in the area with more moving here every week.
As of mid 2009 there were approximately 170 completed residences comprised of single-family homes, duplex villas, condominiums and condo/hotel units.
65% of our residents live here year round and they represent families from 16 different countries. About 70% of our residents are North Americans and a number of Panamanians also have primary and second homes here. Although the majority of residents are over 50 there are a dozen or so families with children living in our community.
